Singapore Pools – Giving Back to the Community

The government established Singapore Pools on 23 May 1968 to counter triads and illegal gambling syndicates, while offering people a legal avenue for betting. Today, it is one of the most respected and trusted bookmakers in Asia. It has a reputation for strict responsible gambling measures and high encryption standards. It also offers a wide range of gambling options, including lottery games like Toto and 4D, sports betting, horse racing, and online gambling. However, it is important to remember that gambling is addictive and should be undertaken responsibly.

Singapore Pools has a long tradition of giving back to the community. Over the years, it has channeled more than $2 billion in taxes and duties to the government and Tote Board to support worthy causes that enhance the lives of Singaporeans. In addition, the company spends $5 million a year on average to support charities and community initiatives.

In 2019, Singapore Pools was named a “Company for Good” by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre for its commitment at the national level towards corporate purpose and contributions to five key impact areas: Society, People, Governance, Environment, and Economy. It was the first organisation in the country to be accorded this status, which recognises its significant and sustained contribution to the nation.

The company also continues to invest in its people and the community. Its employee engagement and digital transformation programmes have been recognised with accolades, and its employees were awarded the Culture of Acceptance, Respect and Empathy (CARE) award at the 15th Workplace Safety and Health Awards. Its learning and development arm, Singapore Pools Academy, has expanded its human capital capabilities by providing training resources to social service organisations to uplift their workforce.

Its newest venture, iShine Cloud, is a collaborative non-profit IT social enterprise that uses Singapore Pools’ IT infrastructure and expertise to provide a suite of social service sector solutions on a secure cloud-based platform. In addition, iShine Cloud is a certified social enterprise with the National Council of Social Service and is accredited as NS Mark Gold.

Customers who are unable to make their bets in person can now access online betting services via the new Singapore Pools Account App, which is available on both iOS and Android mobile devices. The App has been redesigned and improved to offer an easier user experience with enhanced features. Customers can also use the new eBetslip to track their betting expenses and e-wallet to make deposits and withdrawals.

Aside from online betting, the company is also improving its physical outlets to better serve its customers. For example, Fatt Chye Heng Trading in Ubi is now a self-service outlet, which allows cash customers to buy and zao without having to interact with staff members. This is especially beneficial for customers with limited mobility, as they can still purchase and zao their tickets from the store using their smartphones. It is hoped that the new outlet will help them to be more efficient and reduce wait times for cash customers.
